Look into art courses and travel. A lot of students ignore this, but in order to be incredibly successful you will have to develop excellent communication skills. If you are shy or do not like debates, I would suggest taking a few communication courses to build confidence. It is a very competitive field- so the sooner you begin taking sewing courses, drawing, textile, etc. the more equipped you will have and also- it doesn't matter what school you go to ( if you are looking deep into this ) just remember employers and your customers will wear your designs if they are intrigued. So your best bet - be smart and get creative.

As far as higher learning, honestly, even graduates need time to figure that one out. Once your career takes off- you will have a better idea what your strengths and weaknesses are.
If your school offers studying abroad, take advantage of that and see if you can perhaps take a fun art history class in Italy or France. Get inspired.
