Hi Nathan,
Software Architect and Normal Architect are totally different career paths.
I would first start with what are you more passionate about?
You can earn lots of money in any profession you choose to which you're passionate about.
But if you're decision is based out of salaries, there is a good site to check that : https://www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/index.htm
Let me know if you need any other help or guidance.

Hey Nathan, these professions are really 2 different things. There is only one licensed professional that can call themselves an Architect-- those are building design professionals. The other, a software architect, is a name fabricated to describe a somewho designs the infrastructure of a software environment-things coming together digitally. This is complete different than a building architect who works with people to design environments for humans. The pay scales are different, the requirements for education are more (building architects have a minimum of 5 years for a professional degree) the level of professional responsibility is different, and the passions driving the two are different. Basically, an Architect (for buildings) is an artist, specially trained in problem solving, who has to know a little bit about everything- culture, society, sociology, psychology, physics, mathematics, humanities, science, politics, and of course, the arts, and assumes the responsibility of designing solutions to the built environment that will ultimately project the health, safety and welfare of the public. A Software Architect designs software programs. If your passion is computer based, but you love designing buildings, there's a place for you in the field of Architecture. If you don't want that level of responsibility or commitment, nor an obligation to design for real human conditions, chose software architecture.
Thank you!
