Which will better the chance of one getting into pharmacy school or even getting a good job in the pharmaceutical field. Experience working at an independent pharmacy or working at a corporately owned pharmacy (such as Walgreens)?

As a high school senior, I believe I should get a job that will prepare me for my future. I would like to know which will benefit me more when it comes to college and the real world. #college-admissions #pharmacists #admissions-counseling

Hi Joelle - I have absolutely no experience in pharmacology. Now that we got my lack of specific credibility in the field you are interested in out of the way, I think it comes down to people.

People can have a great influence on preparing you for your future career. You might find a great resource or mentor at either a small independent pharmacy or a large national chain. I think it is great experience to apply and interview at both. Prepare questions for your interview that might give you insight into how engaged the hiring manager would be in helping your development or assisting you in your educational and professional aspirations.

Great question and good for you for considering how best to prepare now for your future success. I am sure you will meet great people that will help you along your way.

Please let me know if I can help in anyway. My wife works in the medical field and I could bounce ideas off her if you needed some more industry specific advice.

Best of success to you!
