How can I become become a tech ed teacher?

I am a high school student who as always been involved in FIRST Robotics. And I have taken practically every tech ed course, from engineering and STEM, to carpentry and machining. I am in trade school part-time for carpentry and construction. I have spent over 4 years teaching myself everything technology-related, and my teachers tell me I am extremely advanced in all things tech. I really want to become a secondary tech ed teacher. As of the skills I have now, I could teach multiple types of woodworking, construction, machine shop, and mechanical engineering. I just can not find anything anywhere on how to become a teacher or what courses to take in college. #engineer #engineering #mechanical-engineering #teaching #teacher #teched #tech-ed #technology

If your calling is teaching then you have a good mentor in Rebecca, but you can have a different path or a concurrent and parallel path as a robotics automation engineer. Many companies would be thrilled to have such a hands-on enthusiastic person. You could probably even earn a decent living while you get your Bachelor’s degree. Programming PLCs is a skill in very high demand. Robotic automation can be of many different sorts, from the six axis articulated “arms” commonly seen on automobile assembly limes to X/Y/Z gantries moving materials from one place to another to hexapods to placement of electronic components onto bare printed wiring cards (PWBs or PCBs) at high speed.

Hello!
I'm currently a senior studying technology education at State University at Oswego, which dreams of being a technology education teacher in the high school, or college.
Oswego is a greta college that provides you the hands on experience of shop classes, small engines, metal working, electronics, architecture and even constructions .
This program will help you achieve your Bachelors of Science in Technology Education, and allow you to teach in the state of New York, and Massachusetts.

I grew up in MA but now live in CA. Voc Tech High Schools are NOT all over the country. Many states...like CA do not have them. Each state certified teachers in a different way. So first question is do you want to stay in MA. if so, look to state dept of education for how they credential voc-tech teachers. Ask the local voc tech HS for someone to talk to about this. You are close to UMass Amherst (go UMass!). I would look at both their school of education website and Stockbridge...a million years ago when I was at UMass, a friend did his BA thru Stockbridge in Agriculture and worked at the voc tech HS in Northampton for decades. Not sure aboutnow. but I'd look at that. You will def need a BA/BS to teach...but which one and where you get training matters. as for robotics....that is less clear. get advice from the state where you want to teach. look at reciprocity between states. know that in some places..like where I live. Robotics is taught by former engineer who has second career as HS math teacher.

Opt for a degree in VLSI In which you will.come to learn of electronic compenets and and NLP nd rest you have understanding of harware part.

After completing degree and command over required skills . you make projects , showcase your skills .based on that in college where companies will recruit you for further assistance. Or you may apply as a tech ed teacher.

Rebecca’s Answer

You probably need to go to college to major in Computer Science or Computer and Electrical Engineering. Then you would need to get your teaching certification (usually a two year program). Some schools have an education major, but you would need to do a little research into the school itself. For example, can you double major in Computer Science and Education? (Often CS and/or Engineering degrees are credit heavy so it is hard to pair it with another major). But look at the public universities in your state and see what they offer!
