How many additional classes would I have to take to become school certified in Speech Pathology?
I'm going to major in Communication Disorders and was wondering how much more schooling is involved for a school certification. #advice #pathologist #speech #disorders

Thank you for joining the field! What year are you currently? To become a speech language pathologist, you are required to have a Bachelors degree (science preferred), Masters degree, externship/practicum, and pass the National NESPA now called Praxis examination. After your externship which is a PAID 9 month supervised job (called the Clinical Fellowship), you apply to ASHA, the American Speech Language Hearing Association for your Certificate of Clinical Competence. This allows you to practice in a wide variety of settings. Specific "education or teacher certifications" that might be required in addition to your CCC's depends on the state. Some states require an extra test and others will let you work in a school based on your CCC's.
