I am a junior and enjoy math and chemistry, should I take physics or organic chemistry ? Which one will benefit me in college?
I am trying to decide what to take for my course load next year. #science #math

Both options will broaden your horizons, though their necessity may depend on where you see yourself headed toward in the long term. Physics is an integral part of all physical sciences such as chemistry or engineering. Org. Chemistry is more of a need for those looking into studying life sciences such as biology or medicine.

Hi Emma... It is interesting to note your fondness for Maths and Chemistry. I wouldn't have a strightforward response to your question... but would like to leave you with some food for thought, which I believe should help you probe yourself to find your own answers. The reason I say this is because while both the directions would help you in college, however, you must decide now what path to choose. And that decision should be based on what excites you.
All fields of Science have some level of interdependence on each other.
Physics and Maths, have a lot of interdependence on each other; and if it is mechanics of things that really excites you, you should consider Physics. Some disciplines in Chemistry too borrow a lot from the principles of mechanics as laid down in Physics. Therefore, Physics/Chemistry/Maths could be a very potent combination especially if is Mechanics (Physics) or Industrial Processes (Industrial implementation of Manufacturing Chemicals, etc.) of things that excites you.
On the other hand Organic Chemistry is a very exciting field dedicated purely towards materials, their usage in synthesis of related chemicals, etc. I am not sure of the Industrial jobs one could land after pursuing Organic Chemistry, but, if Labs/Chemicals/Synthesis is something that excites you, you could consider Organic Chemistry.
