Is it cheaper to get an ADN and then complete an RN to BSN program or just get a BSN?

I am thinking about getting my ADN and finding a job at a local hospital and then moving on to an RN to BSN program, if I get my ADN I can work in a hospital, gain experience and help pay for my RN to BSN program. Is that a good decision? #nursing #nurse #registered-nurses #adn

I would say yes, it would be cheaper! You can get an ADN at a community college, start working, and then use your tuition reimbursement from your employer to start an online BSN class. A 4 year program would cost way more and you lose earning potential without a license. Don't take out pricey loans because you'll likely earn less as a new nurse and you'll struggle to pay it. You can find small scholarships to pay the rest.

It can be cheaper to start with an ASN program because many employers offer tuition assistance. I personally did it this way, complete ñd a two year program and started working as a RN while continuing a bachelor completion program. My employer contributed up to $3000 a year for this. I did this in the early 2000s so things may have changed but I found it to be very helpful to reduce my school debt. This route did require a lot of motivation and time dedicated to studies—just something to consider when deciding. Good luck!
