Hi CNelson,
It sounds like you have taken all the right steps to be a competitive candidate for an internship. Have you reached out to your professors and to you college and career center about any current or upcoming internships? Most of the time, people at your college will have the best connections to get you started.
It looks like El Centro College has a couple webpages that might help direct you to the best place to look:
https://www.elcentrocollege.edu/services/onlineservices/newsletters/2016/march/pages/internship.aspx
https://www.elcentrocollege.edu/jobs/pages/dcccd-jobs.aspx
Good luck!

Hi CNelson,
I do know that Watters Bridal company is located in Dallas and they have an internship program. There is information on their website here: https://www.watters.com/careers
Also I'd recommend just using your contacts and network to try and find small independent companies that are based in the DFW area.
For example, I just did a google search and came across this article: https://fwtx.com/culture/style/7-fort-worth-based-fashion-brands-need-closet/ which might be a good place to start.
I got my first internship by finding a very small brand that I liked and contacting them through instagram, and I know with smaller brands usually it's the same person running the company and the social media page so that is usually the best way to get their attention!
A good way to stand out amongst the sea of applicants is to personalize your application entry - do a special sketch or tech pack to show them what you can contribute to their brand. ALWAYS send a portfolio along with your resume.
Good luck!
