Hi Adrien, Game Design incorporates so many different aspects from the planning, designing, prototyping, and implementing. There are some great books and podcasts out there that can provide examples of game design. Some include: Reality is Broken by Jane McGonigal, The Art of Game Design by Jesse Schell, and Theory of Fun by Raph Koster, Those three will give you a great baseline understanding of the field. There are podcasts about game design that you can listen to and play a lot of games! Play card games, strategy games, video games, and look at the mechanics that each of the games use. Keep track of your thoughts on the game you played. What did you like it about? What mechanics did it use? How would you change the game? There are also plenty of professional organizations out there that would love to include your generation. The World Boardgaming Championship is coming up this summer in Pittsburgh, There are many people that go for the week to play and have fun and learn from each other. Good luck!!

Howdy! Game Design is a broad area across video games (console, mobile, casino), board games, etc. I work in tech so my answer is mostly focused on video games. It's a good idea to think about what aspect of game design sounds the most interesting to you?

Is it the art and creative visual design aspect?
The mechanics of a game and making characters do certain things?
The story design and character development?
The player experience that makes you feel certain things at different times?

Once you understand what topics might be interesting to you, you can start researching skills and getting experience that helps you pursue this passion with a bit more direction. YouTube is a fantastic place to start to get an idea of how different careers might take shape and how folks have developed skills in these areas.

I would definitely say try to find different online events that relate to game design, for example, I just went to the GRUX Online Conference which is a conference about game research and UX. Although this isn't straight game design, it's a good start, so sign up for the next (free) conference they have. More specifically go onto Eventbrite and search for different events there. Also join differs online communities where you can meet others in game design and they can definitely recommend game design resources for you there! For example, you should join Design Buddies, which is an online community for designers of every discipline (including game design!) where they share advice and events, and make conversation about various design areas. Here is the link!: https://discord.gg/designbuddies. Hope this helps!
