I remember my freshman year, I was super shy, did not want to make friends and never went to any campus events or join clubs. It was not until my sophomore year until I felt more comfortable with college life. I started joining clubs, making friends and breaking out of my shell. I wish I had done this earlier, for I now feel like I wasted a whole year being afraid of meeting new people.
In classes, make sure you pay attention, ask questions and are actively engaged in the lecture. I would recommend sitting somewhere in the middle of the room so you can see the board and you can still be involved in the discussion without being front row and center. Make sure all your assignments are completed earlier than what they are due, this will ensure you are never behind on homework but play around with different organizational methods to see which one works best for your college career.
Definitely watch your health!!! Freshman 15 is no joke. It is so hard to make food on campus your first year so try to remain active and watch what you eat!
Finally, make sure to have FUN!!! College is what you make it so, go do things that make you happy and try new things to see what your passions are.

Moving away from home and into a new community can be frightening, I went through that ordeal three years ago. As an incoming freshmen, I would remind you to remember what you want to get out of your college experience and rush to join those communities. For instance, I went to college seeking to be a business major and joined multiple business clubs to surround myself with like-minded people who share the same interests as me. Furthermore, most campuses that I know of have excellent resources to help residents engage with each other. On campus, I am a Resident Assistant and it is my job to make sure freshmen have a smooth adjustment into their college career and I host dormitory events to help residents engage each other. In short, join clubs that interest you and go to on-campus events to help you engage and connect with other people.

First, don't be nervous. It isn't a big deal. However, you are going to have new responsibilities and there is no one to regulate you like before. You have to plan and execute yourself. To do well in college, you need to go to class, take notes, review the notes after, do your assigned readings/problems, and never procrastinate. Also, try to plan forward to avoid high work loads. You should also take care of yourself by having a good diet, regular workout, and an acceptable social life.
I hope you the best.
