Hi Kia,
The hardest difficulty of animation and visual effects are the costs. Also, lots of time and coordination are necessary. As a result, Pixar, Touchstone, Dreamworks and the studios produce the fantasies and science-fiction movies. So your training, dedication of your goal and hard work will promote your portfolio when you apply for a job. I would suggest taking a look at UCLA, USC, Pepperdine and Chapman for the possible classes. But college education will be expensive. A better approach I think would be to contact Artella.com, located in Emeryville, CA, for a chance to find out what their current projects are. You might enjoy seeing their displays of animation from their members.
Best wishes, Mark Wagner
