What's the best job to have on campus?
My family is not what you call prosperous, we all have our struggles, so I decided to work while I attend college. I was hoping that someone who has had this experience could give me some suggestions, I am going to UT Austin. #college #work

Welcome to Austin! Think about something that interests you, then look for a job that is related to that. For example, if you like coffee, there are tons of coffee shops near campus. Austin is a great town with LOTS of stuff going on - all the "normal" jobs like food service or retail are options, but if you like to work out you could work at a gym or teach a yoga class. Maybe deliver groceries by bicycle (Austin is really big on stuff like that). There may be on-campus "office" type jobs such as call centers or library or office aides. You could do office work for a real estate agent or an apartment locator.
The best thing you could do is think of businesses that you would be excited to be around, and then call some of them to see what type of workers/jobs they hire. Even if the business you call is not hiring, they might give you an idea about what you could offer the next one you talk with.
Remember to ask any potential employer how they handle the schedule flexibility needs of a student, because your class schedule is going to vary on different days of the week, and it will change again from fall semester to spring semester.

Honestly all of the jobs that are on campus are great jobs to have because you get to make some extra cash and not have to drive off campus. But if u like sports maybe working at the gym part time would be good for you, i worked at
a coffee shop and i dont even drink coffee lol but i gained so many friendships from a place i would have never dreamt of working at and met so many differnet people coming in and out, this is time were u want to come out of youre comfort zone and enjoy youre college years and meet all new people

Depending on what your skills are there are several different jobs you could do. If you school has a media department or 24x7 computer lab that's an easy one. If you're tech savvy you could work for their IT department. I've known several people do that and get part of their tuition paid for. An other easy one, but doesn't pay as much is an RA or Room Assistant.
