hi- You can try to locate an Atty - a friend/ acquaintence/ your family Atty - anybody you might be in contact with and check if they will take you on as an intern during summer or after school whenever you can. Observing court events are very helpful - so even when you can't do many activities, even filing or menial tasks gives you insight into a law office and what attys actually do which can be the most valuable tool of all. You can call local District courts (Municpal Courts as they might be called) and ask to volunteer also. Any acrivity you can do which allows you to observe is invaluable. And remember - most court hearings/ trials and the like are public - so you can observe a lot on your own. That kind of thing may seem silly at this point but it's invaluable!

There are many attorneys looking for free labor. Be careful. Build up your resume and then look for paid paralegal work. Even when you are in law school there are attorneys looking for law students to work for them for free. Pick a good law school, do well your first year and try to get a good paid internship while in law school. Law Review members are the usual targets for firms that are hiring and pay well. Once you are a licensed attorney, remember law is not a hobby, it is a career. Once you are a licensed attorney don't work for free. I am not saying not to do Pro Bono work for good causes and organizations. This is a good thing. I am saying not to let another for profit attorney/firm exploit you once you have your license.

Hi! There are lots of opportunities you can take part in. Look up the local bar association and attend some of the events, speak to attorneys in the field you have an interest in, go to the local law school and speak with the faculty, visit the courthouse and sit in on some of the hearings, and volunteer with the local non-profit legal services. Good luck.
