George’s Answer
You can find a Mechanical Engineer job in any state. It depends on what industry you are interested in, which state would most likely provide an opportunity in that field.
A mechanical engineer working in Oil would look in places like Texas.
Interested in submarines? Jobs in DC area.
HVAC jobs in large cities.
Aerospace field? Possibly Florida.
These are just some examples. After you figure out what industry, you can narrow down best states or locations for Mechanical Engineering opportunities for that industry.

Ashley’s Answer
Mechanical Engineering is very generic and therefore jobs in all startes. If you narrow it down to what you want to design that may limit locations. For example MEs designing airplanes or rockets are in WA, NY, CA, OH, etc. MEs designing cars in MI. Building MEs are all over. Search online for companies thag make and design what you want to design and then search their locations tab. Just know there are jobs in ever major city, but they type of work may not be.

If you want to become a mechanical engineer in the medical device field the best places to be are Minnesota, or California. In Minnesota there are a large number of medical device companies in the Minneapolis area and in California in Orange County. You should search for the engineering type that interests you and then find out where those companies are located.

Honestly, mechanical engineering is a specialty with so many applications that I wouldn't worry about it.
Hi Brianna, what do you mean by it's a job with "so many applications"?
