Benjamin’s Answer

1. Prioritize physical and mental healthy: Stay rested, fed, hydrated, and happy
2. Find a goal to motivate you. Some people want to be doctors so that they can help people, others want to be famous. Pick something that you deeply desire and don't forget it because it'll help you get through tough moments
3. Try new CONSTRUCTIVE things that are outside of your comfort zone. Adapting and learning new things is always useful, and will help you gain big picture perspective on things.

Doc’s Answer

Jessica I want to make sure you know that these strategies are useful even when you already feel perfectly content. If you’re “happy”– wonderful. That’s a great space to be in. Try increasing the quality or quantity of one of the strategies you already enjoy or tackle one that’s a bit less familiar. Think of them as ways to “stay happy”.

CULTIVATE OPTIMISIM
Being positive can often be seen as naivety or “Pollyanna” behavior. In actuality, optimism increases job performance, creativity, ability to weather stress & self esteem. Optimism can be used in how you talk to yourself in the face of adversity, explain past events & think about the future. In the quest for the good life, positive expectations can be self-fulfilling. Cultivating your ability to be optimistic is beneficial to your health & your success. How cool is that? Take a deep breath. This is the here and now. Stop ruminating over the past or worrying about the future for a moment. Tell the voices in your head (“your committee”) to be silent. Enjoy your ability to create your experience this very second. If you’re washing the dishes, wash the dishes. If you’re writing a blog post, write the blog post. If you’re playing with your kids, play with your kids. It’s harder than is sounds, but worth practicing every day.

STAY CONNECTED
We are social beings. We crave connections to others individually, to our communities, to our world. Pay special attention to your family, your lover, your adored friends, your colleagues & your neighbors. Explore & strengthen your connection to a Higher Power. And be open enough to enjoy the spontaneous connections that come from making a new friend on vacation or sharing a witty remark with your seatmate on the bus. Genuine curiosity & kindness can be an amazing way to foster connections, new & old. Mentor, contribute, practice random acts of kindness, express gratitude. Make a loan, give your time, be fully present for your family, change the world. There are a million ways to give of yourself. Do it big, do it small, just do it. It’s one of the most positive equations in the world: You give of your time or resources, which improves someone’s quality of life, which makes you feel needed & valuable, which in turn improves your quality of life. We’re all better off. Magic.

LOVE WHO YOU ARE
Your body is the vehicle that carries you through your life. Love yourself by treating your body with respect & care. Fuel it well with fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains & lean protein. Move it daily. Don’t smoke, don’t abuse alcohol. Meditate. Help yourself age well by staying flexible, protecting your skin from sun & exercising your mind. Sleep well. Beware the ease in which you critique yourself & indulge in praise instead. We need play & whimsy in our lives. A healthy dose of joi de vivre fuels your creativity & feeds your spirit. Celebrating is a wonderful way to share love with others & incorporate more play in our lives. Who in your life has done something big lately? Did you celebrate? What about something small, but personally important? Did you celebrate? Celebrate with traditions, with heartfelt compliments, with notes in lunchboxes, with surprises, with big evenings out, or with cozy evenings in.

Jessica If you’re feeling a bit stressed or stuck or apathetic lately, go all out! Devise a plan to add some of these strategies to your day, to your week, to your life. Your well being depends on it.

Avinash’s Answer

I would like to share 3 habits which improved my lifestyle here:

1) Wake up before or with Sunrise and Exercise at least 5 days in a week. Eat Healthy
Waking up early morning ensures that you get that peaceful time where nothing can distract our time. You feel that your time has doubled by waking up early. We will get that time to plan our day properly. Exercising will help you to kicks tart your day with new Energy. You can listen to music while exercising. Your health is prerequisite for everything you do, ensure you spend time on it. Ensure you include healthy diet.

2) Make a list(Write them down) of things you want to do on that Day/Write Down Your Goals
Before this you need to make a list of things which you want to achieve in your life which helps you to drill down them into day to day smaller tasks which helps you achieve incremental progress. Arrange them in the order of priority. Write them down into x/y axis(matrix) listing them down as urgent/important, urgent/not important, important/not urgent, neither important/nor urgent. Disgard all things which are neither urgent/nor important and focus your energy on urgent/important things.

3) Speak to people/family, Help the needy. No expectations, just think good and do good
Its most important have that sense of happiness of giving back to our loved ones and the society. After all we are social beings. The kind of happiness which we get after helping others is worthless. The society has helped us to grow and thought us so much in life, its important that we too do our best to society. Ensure that you do some work without any expectations. Its just for the better society and Nature.

2. Time-Management. I think being able to manage your time and expectations of what you can complete will make organizing your life a little bit easier.
3. Staying connected. Humans naturally want to be apart of a group. Find your people and you'll always have a support group.

Katie’s Answer

1. Take care of yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually. Make time for yourself and don't put your well-being on the back burner or say "I'll get to it later."
2. Smile! It may sound like a silly piece of advice, but those who smile seem friendlier, more approachable and even the act of smiling can make you happier
3. Go after your goals and passions. Even if it will take awhile or seems like a lofty goal. Set a realistic plan up and take it piece by piece. Understand that there will be ups and downs, and power through the challenging times. Surround yourself by others that will encourage you. Believe in yourself!

Max’s Answer

All of the other responses have great suggestions. Without trying to repeat previously stated habits, here are three more.

1) Be open to trying new things.

There are so many different hobbies, jobs, and people out there. Anyone who is passionate about something had to try it for the first time as well. You never know when you will find your new favorite hobby, career path, or best friend.

2) Don't over stress about past mistakes.

You can't change the past, so their is no reason to keep stressing over it. Learn from your mistakes and move on. This can be extremely helpful for mental health.

3) Make time for the things you care about.

It is important to have a good work/life balance. Don't get so wrapped up in work/school to the point where you are missing out on life.

Christopher’s Answer

1 - Writing down your goals. Goals have a 90+ % better chance of being attained if they are actually written down. (Do this on the Career Board with Career Village)

2 - Active Listening - Actively listening to what other says will serve your immensely throughout life and your career. For example, we start to think about our answer to someone before they even finish what they are saying. How can we possibly "Listen" if we are actively thinking while they are speaking. Breathe, listen, and then respond. (Ted Talks Link on active listening https://www.ted.com/talks/julian_treasure_5_ways_to_listen_better?language=en )

3 - Learning from failures - We are human, we are supposed to fail and make mistakes. However, the people that "succeed" in life are the ones that learn from them. Always pride yourself on not making the same mistake twice.
