Usually, you need at least finished a four year colleague to attend a PHD program in Psychology. One of my friend currently is a Phd student has a bachelor degree and he said that is the minimum requirement for enrollment. Phd in Psychology usually is not well funded by the Institue. It is quite difficult to get a scholarship. However, there are opportunities for being an TA and RA which can reduce your financial burden being a Phd student.

The time line is 4-5 years for your bachelor's degree (note that many students are taking longer to complete the B.S. than 4 years due to working 20 hours or more per week). A doctorate in psychology will take a minimum of 4 years, longer (5 years) for a doctorate in clinical psychology which requires the completion of a 1 year internship. So, you are looking at a minimum of 8 years, and potentially another 1-2 years as a function of the sub-discipline of psychology and the effort to complete your dissertation. I recommend researching your options at the following website: www.apa.org

Hi Camryn! Typically, six years total for a Bachelors and Masters then the estimated time for whichever PhD program you choose. Also check into accelerated programs that could possible combine a Bachelor and Master degree.

I completely agree with Linda. You are looking at a minimum of 4 years for your undergrad degree, then a minimum of 4 years (usually 5) to get your doctorate. While getting to this level is not easy, it is very gratifying...you can make a difference in people's lives!
