What do environmental engineers do?

I'm considering this as a major, but I'd have to go to a college I'm not necessarily excited about. If I don't like this career, then I'd be able to go to the college of my choice. #engineer #environmental

Hi Chloe. Thanks so much for your candid question.

Soooo, focusing a little bit more on the idea that you have to go to a college that you are not excited about in order to be an environmental engineer. I am here to challenge that idea :)

With the right grades and work ethic, you can attend any college you want and study in whatever field you want.

I am not an environmental engineer. I graduated with my degree in Systems Engineering also known in some places as Industrial Engineering. What I think is so extra cool about environmental engineering is the impact that kind of work has on issues that matter like climate change and preservation of important habitats for sustainable clean air and water. I can absolutely promise you that there is plenty more than one college that can offer that :).

I encourage you to do some research on schools that offer programs in "environmental" engineering. It is my guess that these types of programs would exist in locations that are near bodies of water or near vibrant agricultural areas. Here in the state of Georgia, the University of Georgia has great environmental studies programs.

Wishing you the best as you develop your educational journey!
