Practice can help improve your accounting abilities too, so I recommend increasing proficiency in a spreadsheet software (like Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers), managing your own finances and volunteering to track budget, expenses, etc for different events, organizations, or other people in your life.

Hi, Jessica!
It might sound a little too obvious but something that has genuinely built my knowledge of accounting is taking classes. So much of accounting is applying rules to numbers, and knowing the theory behind why you record what you do is huge. I would suggest seeing if your school offers accounting classes, or look for one online if they don't!

Hey Jessica,
I would definitely recommend taking an entry accounting class to determine if it is something that interests you first.
Thanks,
Blake
