Should I go into animation?
I really enjoyed art and I can't think of any other career to pursue, however I have been told that animation is a really bad career to pursue. I was hoping if somebody could tell me a piece of information that would help me feel more positive and assured that going into animation isn't a bad choice. #jobs #animation

If you have to ask the question than the answer would be a resounding “NO.” But with that said, you just have to dip your toe in the water to find out if it is right for you. Never ever let someone else tell you it is “bad” for you. How could they know that? What is bad for someone else does not necessarily make it bad for you. Everyone is different obviously but only you can answer that question for yourself. I would say it takes persistence and determination to become a great animator. But that can be said about any creative endeavor. That you asked the question says there is a spark of something that needs to be fanned. Now go create that fire.

Hello Alexis! That answer depends entirely up to you. Animation takes an insane amount of dedicated time to practice and continually learn the craft. Even when you become a professional you still have to learn and practice a lot due to such a fast moving competitive. You'll have to figure out what specialty you want to pursue in the animation field whether it be storyboarding, animating 2d or 3d, modeling, tech artist, concept artist, background artist, and so many more things. Many people go to school (which is usually really expensive) which gives them a disciplined structure and helps people explore what area they want to focus on more. If you truly feel you have the drive and passion to go through the struggle I think its well worth it. Best of luck!
