Richard’s Answer
Radiology is an exciting and dynamic field. For me personally, the procedures are the most exciting. For example, we recently introduced Y-90 radioembolization at our hospital. This provides a new opportunity to treat liver cancers and prolong lives.
Thank you!!

J.’s Answer
Hi Daniela, good question. The answer for what I would recommend really depends on what you want to get out of the medical career aong with which do you enjoy? There are a lot of fields in medicine and a lot of specialties. There are her medical assistants, those with specialized fields like respiratory therapy, nutrition, registered nursing, vocational nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, occupational & physical therapy, physicians assistant, and a number of different fields within medicine (physician). What are your strengths and interests that might help us provide you with direction?
thank you, I really enjoy working with small children so I know I want to go into peds but not sure what to specialize in.
Daniela
It sounds like you are interested in figuring a sub specialty (Peds being the specialty). Check out the variety of subsodcialty work for children: pediatric oncology, pediatric cardiology etc.., What sub specialties have you researched (Online) that interest you?

Daniela,
I'm a third-year PA (Physician Assistant) student, and would recommend the PA profession to anyone wanting to practice medicine in the future. You can find much information here, on the American Academy of PAs website: https://www.aapa.org/what-is-a-pa/
Also, let me know if you have any questions I can help with. Good luck!

Hi Hwal, can you explain WHY you suggest the PA path?
Gurpreet Lally, Admin
Gurpreet,
There are many strengths to the PA career path, and some of these strengths that ultimately led me to choose to become a PA include the shorter duration of training (making it possible for me to practice medicine that much sooner) and the generalist nature of PA training and education (making it possible for PAs to transition between medical specialties much more seamlessly than Medical Doctors or Nurse Practitioners). Plus, I'm from Australia where the PA profession as we know it in the US doesn't yet exist, so I value there is more than one way to train and practice medicine. I hope this helps.
