Dante’s Answer

DO NOT go to college just to get a job. Your goal should be to pursue a career on behalf of what you LOVE to do.

DO make sure that you don't overthink and stress yourself out. Be open to learning everything you can with your studies and the process of being a student.

If you are able to visit the campuses, do that. It helps you get a feel for each, and shows the schools that you are interested. Be sure to sign up for newsletters and information, open emails, visit the schools' websites, etc. They track all of this activity and as with a personal visit, it shows interest and gives them confidence that if they admit you, you will accept (increasing their yield rates.)

If you are going to submit test scores, it's ideal to do some type of test prep to boost your scores as best you can. It's important to commit to doing the work, to take it seriously.

Going to a school that's a good fit for you, committing to your classes and studies -- it's all part of creating opportunities for you that will impact your life, your family's lives and your community.

Go get 'em!

What are do´s and don´t for applying to college?
-DO's
=meet with students/faculty in the medical field to get some advice on their path.
=Apply to colleges that sound interesting to you and align with what you are interested in! (example: if you want to pursue a career in architecture you should look into a school with a great architecture program or an area that you can benefit from being around geographically!)
=apply to multiple colleges even if you don't think you should get in. Sometimes universities aren't looking for only students with straight A's they are looking at students with a lot of experience or volunteer work. They usually want someone well rounded not just academically successful.
=You should apply everywhere you are interested in even if you are not sure of the financial impact of a high-end university, there are plenty of scholarships and grants that can work with you and financial aid if needed.

-DON'T
=Don't go to a college or pursue a certain field because your family tells you that is what you should be doing. Once you get to college you should really figure out what your interests.
=Take time to write your ~500-word prompt required for most applications and don't wait until the last minute to put it together.
=Don't feel guilty about wanting a different career path. College is a great path and sometimes what is best is to start with a two-year community college and then branch out from there. You save a lot of money and learn a lot about what you want.
