What happens in college if you remain undecided about your major and your future career?
Many people by senior year already know their passion, what they plan to do in college. So what happens to the people who don't? Some say it is not even worth it to apply for college if you don't know what to do with that time. So my question is.....is it right it to apply to college and scholarships if you haven't found your passion yet but if you do, what happens then? #college #undecided #passion

Hi there,
First off, great question. I am a strong believer that you should not be intimidated by the fact that you are not sure what you want to pursue in life or what career you might choose. Some people are always searching, some people know very early on. It truly depends on your passions and your life experiences.
That said, college helps gain those "life experiences" I mentioned above. Many students enter their first year of college undeclared, meaning they do not select a major. Freshman year is a great opportunity to try different classes, talk to students in different majors (and what their career goals are/what research they are participating in), and join as many organizations as possible. Joining organizations may help you find an interest in something too! These are all things that are made much easier by starting college, even if at the community college level.
I know many people that were tight on expenses and could not afford to go to a major university that also did not know what they wanted to pursue. Community college might be a cost-effective answer which can help you decide if you think college is right for you. If it's not, maybe join a trade school or some community organizations to try and understand your passions. I will end by saying that you should not give up on college just because you aren't sure what you want to do with your future yet! Best of luck, feel free to ping back if you have any questions or would like to discuss more.

No! I don't believe that you should apply for college if you are not sure about the career you would like to have. College is expensive and time consuming. Your time there should be plan instead of being an excursion. Moreover, you should apply to the college that supports your career path and not waste your time in one that could not. Lastly, you can't graduate college without a specific major.
