What is the best career advice you'd give a student working towards a degree in International Affairs?

I'm currently an International Affairs major and have finished a few classes toward it. I want to pursue a career in teaching English as a Second Language, but am also curious about what types of opportunities having a degree in International Affairs will bring me? I'm also curious on what the best thing I could do to better myself in a career in International Affairs. #college #career #major #career-advice #international-affairs #giving-advice

Hi Paige,
I've never studies international affairs, but I consider myself to have a quite extensive experience in the international environments.
I believe, nowadays, the degree will only open the first doors for you and, from there, you will have the chance to direct towards the more specific areas your passion and motivation leads to. In the context of international experiences, every opportunity counts as long as you try to be open-minded embracing diversity/differences from new cultures - this will help you on keep working with multicultural and international teams; which is the most common thing nowadays.
Have fun and be open-minded!

Good morning, I did international affairs, worked as an export manager and finished in IT as a project manager ! All of things to do with your diploma, one advice keep your eyes open!

I would recommend a intership if you can abroad to gain some business skills, a lot of big companies are hiring and the experience is really amazing ! Do not block on the adds online where they ask for experience just go for it find 1 or 2 completely different internships and then decide what you want to do !

Good luck
