What advice to you have for a high school student searching for a career in secondary education (teaching high school) - specifically, teaching English?

I'm seeking a possible career in secondary education, and while I've been working as a teacher's assistant for almost a year, I still want to know more about what it's like to be a teacher. #career #teacher #career-counseling #english #high-school

Felicia G’s Answer

Hi Kelly! You can either major in English or Education because you will still be required to pass a State exam for certification. If you truly want to stay in education, I suggest majoring in Education. If you have a degree in anything other than Education you will probably be required to take additional courses in order to be certified.

Hi Kelly,
Why not graduate with a major in English, then acquire a teacher's certificate? My mom and sisters enjoyed their career teaching high school students. They went to LaVerne College. Best wishes, Mark
