There are lots of careers involving sports, from management roles with professional teams to analysts to psychologists and coaches (and so many more). If you're looking for something relatively active, you might look into coaching or working as a personal trainer/strength and conditioning coach. Also, if you are fond of a sport requiring referees, officiating could be a nice part-time job as well, and certainly an active one!
Thank you very much for your response, I've actually started reffing in soccer for little kids in my league!

Hi Austin,
There are a lot of different routes that you can take to have a career in sports! I would start by thinking about is there a specific sport or specific focus you would want to pursue. From there you can research the different avenues to get involved. Working in sports doesn't have to mean actually coaching or playing or working for a team or organization. There are so many ways to be involved whether it be journalism/media, marketing, management, performance apparel (Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, etc.), institutional/college - athletic departments, sport goods/retail, sports medicine, training, and so much more. It is such a broad area. Best of luck!

If you're interested in sports as an industry, checking out sports technology companies could be a great place to stay close to the sports industry, while providing more career opportunities. I'm thinking about wearables (WHOOP, fitbit, Garmin, etc.), but also the technology needed to track athletes/video (Hudl, etc.).
You can always coach your favorite fitness class on the weekends (or make a career out of it!) and join community leagues to stay close as well, there may just not be a huge financial pay off.
