Lovekesh’s Answer

You can follow these steps:

  • Complete your undergrad/graduation in humanity/arts with English as your major. if you can opt for an English honours, it will be better. Make sure you do a full time degree from the top colleges.
  • then go for a masters degree in English literature.
  • Go for a B.Ed. and/or M.Phil
  • you will have to clear UGC exam to be eligible for a lecturer position in any government institutes.
  • After these steps, you can start applying for a job or alternatively you can go for a PhD as you will start learning, working while doing your PhD.

Adin’s Answer

Since you are from Bangalore, I would suggest you to enrol for a degree program like B.A in English or English literature. If not you can also practice English language and grammar on ieltsessentials.com

Tamasyn’s Answer

Hi Adin, read, read, read, get a Bachelors degree in English Literature, and then you’ll need to complete a Masters. It is almost impossible to find a lecturing job at a university without a Masters or PhD. Good luck!

Tamasyn recommends the following next steps:

Read the classics.
Get a Bachelors of Literature
Get a Masters of Literature
Consider a post grad certificate in adult teaching.

Jyoti’s Answer

Hi Asma,

  1. First you need to do a Bachelor's degree in English like B.A. in Literature.
  2. Continue your studies for Masters (M.A.)
  3. You can do your PhD which will give more weightage.
  4. Along with all these, you need to keep practicing the vocabulary /literature/grammar etc.

Hope this helps.

All the best!!
