Think about all the organizations you have ever been a part of, for instance, YMCA, church, youth sports. Then check out those organizations, because many of them will have scholarships available to past or present participants. I do not think these are large dollar scholarships, but the competition for them may not be as difficult.

Hi Marco:
Here's a list of resources you could research for financial aid. Make sure to check the deadline and apply to as many scholarships as you can. You never know which one you may actually get. Best of luck to you!

Gloria’s Answer
Hi Marco,
In this day and age, with the cost of school, I would not try to limit your focus. Of course you do need to consider how much money you will actually need for school. I would try to get a scholarship that covers the entire 2-year or 4-year timeframe that you want to attend school. I would also encourage having enough money to pay for books, other incidentals, as well as maybe the ability to live on campus. I think that the best scholarship is the one you get,
I would offer that you should consider looking for a variety of scholarships. I think that there are some that are offered to protected classes (like people of color or women) and there are scholarships for specific skills. I had a family member who won a scholarship for writing a story that was chosen to win. I offer this since some people focus only on scholarships related to academic achievement. See if there are scholarships offered by corporations.
You should not just apply for scholarships before your freshman year, you should apply every year to make sure that you have the money that you need to meet all of your academic dreams.
