Teacher salaries vary by state and school district, as well as public vs private school situations. There is a wide range, so find the locations that interest you and research them to get the most current information. There are usually "steps" that teachers move up as they gain experience and more education, such as a Masters degree. Each "step" means more income. Teachers often augment their basic step salaries with extra duties, such as coaching, advising clubs, or leading other student activities. For example, I coordinated the National Geography Bee for my school district, and led the World in Motion program for students interested in engineering. Teachers will also tell you that the satisfaction and privilege of teaching is not about the money, but it helps!teacher teaching
