Your home town taking classes. Continue to take classes where ever you go. get as many technique classes as you can. That includes all genres and not just ballet. If anyone is teaching any kind of technique such as; Horton, Martha Graham, Pearl Primus, GAGA... Take the class. Then just keep going and look up great schools with dance programs and go forth! join local companies as well whther its modern, hip hop, jazz, or tap. You will find your fit. ;)

My Daughter is a semi pro dancer, and the path you can take can certainly vary. If you love dancing in general, find a studio by you where a variety of styles are taught. You can try different styles to see which ones really speak to you. At the core of all dance is Ballet, so having a strong foundation in Ballet is always good. Often studios may offer a free class or two to learn about the teachers and the studio.
From there you can go the competition route which could teach you a lot about how competitions work, how to dance within a team, and to learn how to succeed and to fail, which is truly important.
As dancers take this type of path, you will learn how much you love dancing, various styles and then which types of careers could be open to you. Broadway, Cruise lines, videos, professional dance companies, are just a few career paths you can follow with Dance.
No matter what, love what you are doing!
