What kind of jobs should high school students look for?
When I was in high school, I was limited in my options of finding a job because I had no work experience yet every job wants someone with work experience. I would like to know what jobs kids in high school right now should look for. #college #career #jobs #work #group-work

Hello Thomas,
My perception is that the Market is so dynamic that in 5 years we will have lots of jobs that are not existing today. I have a 8 years old daughter and I try to present her several fields of interest and observe on which ones she is more interested and has abilities. I also tell her that she can learn/be anything that she wants, ensuring that she does not feel limited to any border.
Also, it is important that a kid does not feel that a college career is a final and unique way. Remember that our generation (and the comming ones) are expecting to live over 100 years and in that long life we'll be able to change careers and progress on diferente paths.

Great jobs while you are in school could be landscaping, construction labor, or delivery driver. During the summer I had my own landscaping service and also worked in construction.

If you have a hobby or interest in something specific, ideally try and get some work experience within that field. Another great way of gaining experience outside of a part time job is to get involved in clubs at school, captain of the chess club, sport or similar. This can provide you with some skills that fit into the real world for when you graduate too.
