I'm a physics major with a minor in math and spanish. I'm trying to look for a job that is related to forensics, but so far the ones that I have found are for biology, chemistry, and psychology majors. Thank you #forensics #forensicscience #job #physics #math #spanish # #first-job

Hi,
If you are looking for a job in forensics, you do not have to automatically look at "police forensics" . Forensics Engineering is a field you might consider. Insurance companies use forensics engineers to investigate insurance claims on objects that break like structures and machinery to determine the cause of a loss. They also use forensic or loss engineers to work with companies in an effort to avoid losses (eg. things that could go wrong or break) which would save both the owner and the insurance company lost production time and money. I suggest you Google Forensic Engineering to get a better idea of the companies that employ "Loss Engineers" and Forensic Engineers.

Hope this helps,
Doug

Hi Eveylnn,
If I could recommend a job, I would say that you should look into forensic ballistics. Physics is important for this field in that it is necessary to determine the different trajectories of projectiles at crime scenes. If that does not interest you, there is also forensic engineering, in which you would determine what particular aspect of a structure went wrong and why it did not work as expected.
Hope this helps!
Thank you comment icon Thank you so much. I was looking into forensic scientist. Do you have any idea of where or how to apply? Because I have been looking in google, but I'm so much lost Evelynn
Thank you comment icon Considering that you are in Texas, I would recommend looking at companies that specialize in forensics, such as Texas DPS. You may find others via a more concentrated Google search as well. Tevon Brooks

Hi Evelynn,
If you are looking for a job in forensics try any law enforcement agency. FBI, CIA, DEA, Department of Homeland Security, police departments, sheriff's, Marshall's office, highway patrol, state police, take your pick. Good luck to you.
