How can I become a real estate lawyer?
I have looked into real estate law and have become very interested. Is there any certain work experience or additional education needed to become a real estate lawyer. #real-estate #law #lawyer #lawyers # #corporate-law

William C.’s Answer
Real estate law is a specific practice. I would suggest finding someone who specializes in the field and getting an internship or into a mentoring program with them.
Many firms that are in business law have real estate practice groups.

Todd’s Answer
First, you may want to focus on becoming a lawyer and take the mandatory classes towards that degree. You can then choose the classes more oriented towards real estate law that are available at the law school you attend. You can also consider obtaining your real estate license and going to law school part time so you become more familiar with the basics of real estate law you would need to understand as realtor such as writing contracts. This may also help guide you to the best law classes to take.
Todd,
Thank you for your response, I found it very insightful.

Mallory,
Todd's and William's answers are excellent One of the important functions of Law School is to expose you to the many different areas of the law. Often students enter Law School with the goal of practicing in a particular area of the law, but then change their focus during Law Student. So, I invite you to focus on getting into the best Law School you can, then let the Law School curriculum help you decide in what area of the law you want to practice.
Best of Luck,
Glenn
