Tiana’s Answer

The act of cooking isnt very difficult at all, it just becomes a bit more complicated when you pursue it as a career. The most crucial ingredient to having a successful career is to have passion to learn & persevere. The culinary industry is so much fun and allows you to express yourself in such an awesome way! However, it also has the reputation for being one of the most difficult lines of work because of the demand the job has.

A few things I would recommend:
- Work in a few restaurants (different kinds as well! Bakeries, hotels, exc.): They are all so different and you can really find out what is the perfect fit for you
- Dont quit right away: Like i said, its a hard industry because its all about supply & demand, unfortunately that causes people/ bosses to be not so nice. If youre experiencing that or being mistreated at work, dont quit the industry right away, find a new restaurant with better leadership. Good/ fair places are out there, not everywhere is filled with chefs like gordon ramsey's tv personality.
- Never stop learning: Once you assume youve closed yourself off from others opinions/ advice, thats when you loose all the fun of the industry! Ive been working in kitchens for 10+ years now and still everyday I am surprised by everything. You also learn some of the most valuable lessons from failures so always keep an open mind!
- HAVE FUN!: At the end of the day, its just food. Sometimes people get so caught up in the latest trends exc that they forget to take a step back and realize that it doesnt always have to be so stressful. The best food comes from the heart, so remember to cook with love, not frustration.
