Hi Haylee,
Im currently a pre-med student studying so I can one day become a doctor. A lot of my time is spent working hard and scheduling ahead. From what I've learned, some people are naturally able to function without too much sleep and then make up for it over breaks or weekends. Others find it difficult to stay up every night but may get used to it over time. The body can't function fully and properly without sleep, but a lot of doctors schedule their time wisely so that they can help people and sleep appropriately later.

Many doctors and nurses work 12-hour shifts. This may seem like a long day, but they do get used to it. Those who work 12-hour shifts usually only work 4 days per week, instead of the typical 5-day work week. So, even though they work longer shifts, they usually get three days off in between. Plus, if you love what you do, the 12-hours go by pretty quickly!
