There are a lot of different jobs that lawyers have. Some lawyers spend a lot of their time preparing to go to court and then in court. Other lawyers spend most of their time providing advice to clients on a particular area of law that they have expertise in. Other lawyers spend most of their time work on negotiating and writing contracts for their clients. Some lawyers spend most of their time writing papers to be filed with the courts on behalf of their clients. So, one of the great things about being a lawyer is that you can find what kind of law practice best suits your skills and your personality, and then work hard to become the best lawyer you can be in that particular area of law, and that kind of practice of the law.

Hi there!

In addition to thinking about lawyers who go to court, negotiate deals, etc., there are a lot of "non-traditional jobs" that lawyers can do as well. For example, I used to practice law to help businesses. However, I have used my law degree in lots of other ways. I've been a consultant who helps businesses solve problems. I've also worked in communications and change management to help organizations understand how to make very large and complicated changes in a way that people understand.

Lawyers use their skills for lots of other jobs too, for example, human resources, entrepreneurs, management consultants, writers, non-profit organization executives and lots of other jobs! Getting a law degree helps you think about issues from many different angles. That mindset helps you apply legal skills in lots of different professional environments. There's no limit to what you can do with a law degree!!!
