Hi Noe,

I am not in the medical field, but I do know that becoming an OB/GYN is not an easy feat as it would require a medical degree in order to practice. I think you would benefit from doing some research to learn more about the role itself to see if it's something that's still interesting to you. As a start, you might consider:

1. Seeing if there's someone you know that's an OB/GYN that you could talk to, to learn more about their day to day. What's challenging? What is rewarding? What did they do to get to where they are today?

2. Doing a search in Google to check out some videos/resources that are available online that talk a bit more about the job and what it entails.

I hope that helps!

OB/GYN is a very good career in the field of medical science. Yes it is very challenging considering the effort and time involved which would probably take about 10-12 years of the complete study of medicine + Residency+ fellowship , but it is indeed a very rewarding career.
If anyone is really interested in making a difference in medical sciences contributing to women health and women support , this career is the way to go. Our country is need of more doctors and this is a wonderful way to contribute to the society and at the same time, pursue a good career.

Karen’s Answer

Hi Noe,

What a great field to want to be in! I am not in the medical field but I suggest you reach out to your local medical college to see if you can speak with one of the professors, or if you are able to meet with a local OBGYN directly and essentially 'interview' them about what it's like to work in this field, I think that will help you. Some offices may even offer part time jobs or summer help, which will give you a great idea of at least the day to day appointment environment for them.

I hope this helps, and good luck!
