Can I go to a branch and transfer to the main campus?
I want to go to the branch at UNM here in my town because it is cheaper and that way I can do my prerequisites. After that when I have more money I want to go to the main campus that way I can learn more as well as follow the career I want to study. #UNM #money #Anesthesiology #Medicine

This is a great question that often doesn't get a lot of attention. Most folks are all about going to expensive schools and thinking that the education is so much better. Some of that is true in terms of the networking for business purposes. But overall universities have become increasingly competitive and it's difficult to get into really good schools. Your thought process around getting your breadth requirements done at a branch or a community college is spot on. It saves a lot of money, and major universities need to reserve space for community college transfer students ... that's usually a less competitive route to a major university. And you have the option to transfer to a school with the speciality and focus that you desire. Keep in mind a good chunk of college expense are just living expenses. Out of state schools will be expensive for tuition ... so try to stay in the state that you live. And in the end, college is just about what you get out of it ... not necessarily where you attend.
Make sure all of your credits transfer to the your next school, so talk to your school counselors.
If you can live at home for your first two years in community college, this is a big money saver.
Don't forget to apply for the various forms of financial aid ... state, federal, and private.

You should ask a counselor to make sure the credits will transfer over to the main campus. I think that is a great plan and a great way to save money!
