Hey Kolian,

Good to see that you’re planning ahead for after high school! The best way to get into a trade will be to go to a technical/trade school, I know you said school is not your thing, but schools like these are different from regular colleges. Instead of taking classes like math, English, history, etc. you will take classes that will actually teach you the fundamentals of your desired trade and will make your resume look much better than other candidates who are applying to the same jobs as you. Not only that, but trade schools usually take much less time than universities with 4 year programs; trade school programs usually take between 9 months-2 years depending on the trade.

Some next steps that you should take are:

- Decide on a trade. Really think about what trade will fit your future lifestyle best and decide on what factors of the job matter to you most, whether it be income, traveling or staying in one area, schedule, and your interest in these fields.
- Look into trade schools and community colleges in your area that offer a trade that you are interested in and apply to those schools.
- Look for entry-level jobs related to your desired trade, for example, if you want to become a mechanic, look for jobs at tire shops, jiffy lubes, etc. where you can get real life experience for the future.

Good Luck and I hope this helped!

First of all, I want to say good for you for knowing school isn't your thing. Getting into a trade can offer a very nice living. Some trade options are plumbing, electrician, welder, construction, and landscaping (this may be seasonal depending on where you live).

I'd recommend looking at getting some sort of certification. Trade jobs like electrician, plumber, HVAC tech, or welder are good options if you are looking to complete a certification program. Google also has some tech-related certifications they're sponsoring currently at grow. google. com.
