Hey Rheanna,
To know if you are going in the right field; the love for what you do will come natural. When you love what you do you look forward to tackling your day with excitement, great energy and performing with pride and joy. If Kinesiology/ Exercise Science is what you love; start now making connections with people already in the field. See if you can shadow someone to see what its actually like to work in that field . You have a love for helping people, which is awesome, so if your love is found in Kinesiology/ Exercise Science then go for it. I'm confident you will be great and make the best choice that works for you. Good luck Rheanna!!

Hi! That is one of the biggest questions you will face in life. I am sure you have done your research on the career field as it relates to opportunities for advancement, benefits of the career, the type of experiences you will achieve, and the requirements to be successful. However, the best advise that I can give you is to pick a career that excites you, that motivates you, that gives you a good feeling, and that you love to do. You already said that you love to rehabilitate people so I think you are on the right path. Best Wishes!

Look for a school that has a great program in what you want to study, but also has other degree options if you change your mind. Many people will change their ideas around what they enjoy and what they want to do for work so look for a school that gives you options (just in case you end up not liking what you think you will.)
To actually figure out whether you'll like a career, ask yourself if you enjoy the subject matter when you're taking classes. Try to do as many internships as you can in the field to learn what a day is like in the career. And network as much as you can with people who actually do work in the field you think you want to go into - find them on LinkedIn, e-mail people, ask them to go to coffee or have an informational interview with you. Your best resource to learn about what it's like to work a job is to ask the people who are doing that job now!

Hi Rheanna,
You are going to find yourself asking yourself this question over and over again in your life. Why? Because the answer to this question is not always simple. I would start with some questions for you - why did you pick this career? Is it a passion? Is it a career that someone you know enjoys and you want that same feeling? Why this career over another? All of these questions have the same source - you. You have to look inside of yourself to determine if this job will match what you love to do and how you want to do it as a job. If you have doubt, you should delay committing to a major when you go into college. The first two years of college are often filled with a variety of classes in general subjects that will allow you to learn more about other jobs that are out there.

That's what changes the world a person at a time.

You may want to find real professionals working in that field and ask if you can interview them, intern, and/or shadow them on the job. The more you can get your own experience of what it will be like when you're working in that field, the better decision you can make.

Rheanna, I think you answered your own question! If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life -- that's the difference between finding a job and finding a career. If you like helping others rehabilitate, this sounds like the perfect major for you. Another thing to think about is what in your studies energizes you. If you enjoy science, this seems to be right up your alley.

Great Question! Self reflection is necessary to guide us to where we can be useful. Friends and loved ones can give us inspiration, but only you can determine your passion! To share my path, I recognized the intangibles in me first (grit, selflessness, integrity) and saw how those traits differed from myself to my peers. Where I saw a void, gave me the opportunity to champion that trait and then teach others how where they may have struggled. Where I knew this was a passion is that effort involved wasn't strenuous, it reinvigorated and renewed the passion.....Hope that gives some direction....Stay present!
