Drawing and storyboarding are great first steps! For animating, I recommend watching tutorials for programs you have or would like to use. YouTube is great if you know specifically what you're trying to do (e.g., fade in image in Adobe Premiere Pro). There are plenty of other sources (LinkedIn Learning, Adobe, etc.) but they might charge a fee.

Start small. Pick a single frame or action you want to learn how to animate, and work towards completing that. Once you've done that, move on to the next piece of animation. It will take time, you'll learn through doing and making mistakes (sometimes mistakes end up working out better), but the key is to get started. You can get started on paper with a flipbook as Natalie mentioned, or begin on the computer. You can test ideas in one program but complete them in another. Find what works for you to start, and keep building your skills.

Hi Antonio,

It's so great that you want to use your creativity, drawing skills and storytelling to create a cartoon. If you want to start on paper, it looks like this video provides some really helpful steps. Sounds like you'll need a TON of paper, and then all of your drawing and creativity skills.

You could also start with a flipbook, and this looks like a great how-to guide, as well.

Good luck and I'm excited for you to work on your first cartoon!
