Jason's answer is amazing. I thought of a few things you could do now to see if you even LIKE being around animals all the time:
- Work at a local horse barn, feeding animals, cleaning stalls, etc.
- Shadow a veterinarian or be a Vet Assistant.
- Pet sit for a neighbor or relative when they are out of town.

Todd’s Answer
Hi Sienna, Veterinarians are professionals that practice animal medicine. Other jobs that work with animals are veterinary technicians or nurses, animal trainers, game wardens, zoo keepers, and groomers. Beth has a good idea to work for or volunteer with some people who have jobs that work with animals to see if you really like it & get an idea of what is involved in each case. Another thing to consider is the amount of schooling or training that you will need to have to get a job in a particular field.
One way to find out more could be to contact a university or vocational school that offers instruction in these fields, or to contact someone in these fields and let them know you are interested in visiting or shadowing them for the day.

Volunteer or work part-time with animals both for experience and because it will be great on your resume.
Research colleges to see which ones offer the programs you want
Research the requirements for the colleges you identify....experience with animals? Grades? Attendance? Membership in clubs that have to do with animals?

Samantha’s Answer
Besides a vet you could work at pets mart. You could work at shelters, you could work as a ranch hand, or be a breeder.
