Priti’s Answer

Business understanding, Math, SQL, Excel, Power BI. If you are in 10th, focusing more on math and database technologies will help right now, visualizations can follow later as you learn new technologies. Advancing with statistics and probability will help for advanced analytics skills eventually.

Sabarathinam’s Answer

As you are in 10th class I would suggest you should start concentrating on Mathematics first. Its is more important for any Data related jobs.
Mainly Statistics and Probability.

Then concentrate on MS Excel, Oracle/SQL it is easy to start a language. Once you are comfortable with this then you can learn visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI etc.

Alan’s Answer

As a 10th grader looking to further your skills to become a Data Analyst, I would suggest putting a lot of your attention on mathematics (statistics will help greatly) and various programming languages (SAS, SQL, R, etc.). What helped me through my schooling towards becoming a Data Analyst was to ask many questions on assignments I was unsure about and learning how to solve problems thoroughly and not just applying answers with no clear understanding. You can develop key skills in your career by applying these steps in your current development.

I hope this helps you on your quest to becoming a Data Analyst!

Philip’s Answer

Excel and SQL are the most important. Tableau and/or MS PowerBI are great skills for displaying your data effectively. The ability to explain data findings to a non technical person is a great advantage. SAS, R, Python, etc... all of these things will come quickly if you're familiar with SQL.

Maria’s Answer

Some specific skills or tools show up multiple times in data analyst roles. The main tools include Excel, SQL, and Tableau (some companies use Power BI). Some skills are excellent, especially Python, when working as a data analyst. When finding a data analyst role, it is essential to show projects you have completed that use the aforementioned skills. One program I would recommend to understand the role of a data analyst is Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate found on Coursera

Data Science with Python, Business Intelligence and Datawarehousing, Data Base Management System,Big data Modeling and Analytics

Thank you comment icon Get really good with excel. Big or small, most companies use excel. It's a basic need. For displaying data, Tableau or Microsoft's PowerBI. Pulling and manipulating data is important, but being able to display the stories you've learned to a less technical person is a huge skill. For extracting and manipulating data, SQL. Python, SAS, R, etc... if you're good at SQL you will be able to shift to any of these with few hiccups. Philip Benter
