In my experience I've seen almost all the engineering fields represented in footwear. The big one one is industrial design which doesn't sound like engineering but it is. You've also got mechanical engineers, biomechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers and then the wide world of manufacturing engineering for the people who actually make shoes.

Motorsports is the first thing that comes to mind! Also, engineers design all the equipment needed for sports.
