If the app is available to you, you can use Duolingo to practice in your spare time. It's free and you can go at your own pace. Yo estoy aprendiendo español!

Gabby’s Answer

Great answers thus far. I would also look into getting free books from a local library and talking to family and friends who may speak English or have contacts who can help you. As silly as it may sound, even listening to podcasts, tv, any media source can help. Other options that may cost money may include attending a ESL class (English as a second language), if available online or elsewhere in your community.

Spanish is a beautiful and wonderful language and is widely used. Plus, for some positions, employers seek out bilingual applicants, so don't lose sight of the gift you currently have.

Gabby recommends the following next steps:

Find a variety of media sources: books, apps, podcasts, etc.
ESL courses

Miranda’s Answer

Hola Sara,

Hi Sara,

I'd recommend practicing english through the things you like doing best. I'm from Colombia and I work for an American company, I learned English by playing video games and reading.

Spending time vocabulary learning each day, watching short videos about things you like, and participating in forums or free spaces where you can interact is super useful.

Hi Sara! There are great answers provided; I'm tambien using Duolingo to learn Spanish to help with my future patients in medicine! I would definitely recommend it; also practice is key! Find someone who speaks English and practice with them if you can; read books, watch movies and TV shows in English as well. Stay consistent in your practice and in no time you will be getting better.

Buena suerte!

Jennifer’s Answer

Hola Sara!

The App "Babbel". It has a free trial and it is easy and simple. It will teach you everyday conversations. I used it to brush up on Spanish for my vacation to DR.
