How can I save money?

Working a minimum pay job ($9) and having only 30 hours a week I think is not that much money. I like to spend money which I know is really bad. I need to learn how to stop spending all my money. How can I save money and put it to greater use? #career #jobs #money

Pay yourself first! Put money aside into a savings account the minute you get paid, and don't allow yourself to touch it. Sometimes, it helps if there is a purpose for that money, so you might give yourself a goal of something that you are saving up your money so you can buy it.

Learn to become a wise shopper. Look for sales, coupons, and other good deals, so that the money you have will go further.

Thank you comment icon Agreed. Take it a step further and automate this process. have your paycheck direct deposited into your checking account and then set up an automatic transfer to take a portion of that money and move into a savings or brokerage account. Jeff Scott

Tiffanie! Be gentle with yourself. You are to young to be fretting about this. So, maybe your issue is do I spend less money or make more money and maybe set some aside also? Maybe you could make a list of services that you could provide local homeowners like baby sitting, dog walking, washing cars, grocery shopping, washing windows, etc. My point is you might want to move out of the problem house into the solution house. Buy the Robert Kiyosaki Cash Flow Game (check EBAY) and learn to play it and then teach others to play it and charge money including Ideas you've gained from the R K tapes in a 4 session 3 hours per session class on Saturdays monthly. Start out at $9.00 per person (5 people per 12 hour class) then evolve to $15 then $24.97. Teach what you want to learn then get creative and make it pay you. Use your initial earnings to buy 3 more games. Four games with 20 players would be $400 dollars. "Teaching Teens To Work Less And Earn More $$'s Faster" by Tiffanie L My first classes were $5 a person in 1970 teaching Leadership, Leverage and More Leisure to some co-workers! Get creative if you want to. You are a bright, curious and ambitious talent. Go forth and mess up! Play Monopoly 1st and add on R K stuff would cost you very little then move to Cash Flow :-)

Hi Tiffanie! Each paycheck you receive, take a percentage and set that aside. This is setting you up for a more sustainable future. I would recommend either opening a savings account, roth IRA, or just investing this money. Lastly, most importantly do not touch this money, especially not if it is not a necessity. Good luck!
