With anything, putting in your best effort is a major key to impressing anyone. Do everything that your boss and your job asks for you to do, but proceed to go above and beyond. Taking that extra step of stacking a few extra boxes or fixing up that extra shelf, doing something that sets you aside from your co-workers, will surely impress your boss. Also, be sure to always be punctual! As the saying goes, "Being on time is already late." Stay positive and have a good attitude. It will take you far! Best of luck! :)

Hi Tiffanie, it's great that you want to make an impression at work and grow within your current company. One of the best ways i think you can do that is by always ensuring to go to your manager with solutions and not just problems. For example, if something is not going well or there is an problem, think about potential solutions and discuss those with your manager, rather than tasking the issue to your manager and expecting them to solve everything for you. Having your own ideas and coming up with ways to improve certain aspects of your job will go a long way to impressing them, and getting your manager top expand your role and hopefully promoting you sooner rather than later.
Good luck.
Jane.

Here are 9 tips for winning your boss’s approval:
- Do your job, and do it well.
- Really get to know your boss : When you first start working with your boss, you should sit down and have a conversation about how he or she likes to communicate. Ask your boss if he or she likes to correspond by phone, e-mail or in person, find out how often he wants status updates from you, and figure out how much detail he wants in those updates. Great communication is vital for building a strong relationship with your boss.
- Assist and support your boss’s professional goals: A primary job of any employee is to make the boss’s life easier. And just like you, your boss has professional goals that he or she is trying to accomplish.
- Be loyal to your boss.
- Make your boss’s priorities your priorities.
- Take the initiative with projects and assignments.
- Seek solutions to problems.
- Show an interest in an activity your boss is passionate about.
- Demonstrate a long-term interest in your organization.

Great advice Jane! I would completely agree that sharing solutions to issues would be a great way to impress your manager. I love your thinking about how to make the BEST impression and build trust. I would also add that being on-time and having a positive 'can-do' attitude are always a PLUS.
When I am met with a challenge, I ask myself "How can we..." instead of "Why can't we...". Look for possibilities!!
Good luck to you!
