This is a great question. Yes, there are plenty of opportunities for internships in college. The key will be to do your homework: decide what kind of industry you want to work in, what kind of work you want to do there, and which companies in your area (or in any area where you could work) are in that industry. Your college can help you with this, but you should take as much initiative as you can in this process. Some internships will be unpaid, but many are paid, and some pay quite well.

Yes, there will be opportunities for internships in college. Be sure to connect with your college's career planning office early to learn how to access and apply for them. Internships are SO valuable not just for the skills you will learn, but for the experience you will be able to talk about during future job interviews. Having an internship also gives you a preview of future career paths and can lead to ongoing networking/mentoring relationships as well. I personally got one of my first jobs through a connection I had made during an internship. Hi Lily! That is so cool that your school allows you and your classmates to start interning in high school! To answer your question, yes, most colleges encourage you to intern while you are going to college. Usually, the college will have a variety of resources that help you to find an internship you are interested in (career fairs, websites, events, etc.) but it is up to you to apply and go after the internship you want!! You should be plenty prepared for it when that time comes since you are getting a head start in high school! Keep up the hard work, it will pay off!

When you get to college, be sure to check out the career center. Lots of colleges have resources with alumni, resume workshops, and help on getting internships in your fields of interest.

There are always internships available. You can check out opportunities at your Career office, or you can actually apply for internships on your own by contacting companies yourself. Due to the pandemic, most internships can be done virtually- so don’t limit yourself to local organizations!
