Hi Tiffanie,
Great question. Finishing your general education classes or your basics at a community college is a great way to save money. Many colleges will accept roughly 60 credit hours but that can certainly vary from one school to the next. It may also depend on the major you plan on declaring. Check with the admissions office of the school you would like to graduate from to find out exactly what the requirements will be. You may also want to check with the financial aid office to find out if there are will be any impact to the aid you can receive as a transfer students, specifically scholarships. I was able to transfer 60 hours from a community college to the university that I attended. Years later I worked at the same university and worked with transfer students who brought in anywhere from 40 to 90 transfer hours. Most schools require that you complete a specific amount of hours at there in order to graduate. Also check to see how many hours you can transfer in after you have matriculated. Often after completing a certain amount of hours at a school you are considered matriculated and you will have a limited amount of hours which you can transfer in after that time period. CLEP courses are generally limited after you have matriculated as well. You can definitely call and speak to someone in admissions or the registrars office. Even better the schools online catalogue, different from the class schedule, will outline all of these requirements.
I hope you find this helpful!

Hi Tiffanie,
How much credit you can transfer will depend on the college you are transferring to. The website or page of the registrar of your new college should have the college's policy on transferring credit. If not, the best way to find out would be to contact the registrar directly, either by email or phone. Hope this helps and good luck!
