When I'm struggling to come up with ideas for a design, I often turn to google and just start googling designs for similar topics, themes, and formats. Maybe I have to create a brochure for a Youth Camp program, but I'm feeling uninspired. I'll google "Youth Camp brochures" and sift through that content to see if anything sparks some ideas. Then, maybe I'll just google "Camp brochures," and see if that expands some of the variety in the designs I find. Then, I might just google "brochure designs" or "innovative brochure designs" to see some current trends and varied layouts for brochures. From there, I might start with mimicking an element or two of some of the designs that I like. By then, my inspiration and creativity usually pick up and I reach a satisfying end product that looks nothing like the brochures I researched. If that doesn't work, never underestimate the effectiveness of some fresh air and a break away from the computer, getting your mind off of your design. It's kind of like writer's block or when you're trying to recall something. The harder you try to come up with a new idea or recall something, the harder it is to remember it, but if you occupy yourself with another task, suddenly, you spark a great idea or recall that thing you tried to remember earlier.

Hi again Daury,

You stated every designers worry BUT you need to realize that design is about problem-solving, advertising is about ideas! Having said that does not infer that design doesn’t hang on style to convey a message or support a solution because it does. Think problem-solver, wear that every day of your professional life BUT also live the life of a designer by immersing time off in self-study and education of a career that you do because you love it.

Hi Daury! I reference Pinterest a lot when it comes to gaining inspiration; especially when initiating a progress. I even sort and create Pinterest Boards by the type of inspiration I'm looking for: typography, illustration, invite design, poster design, etc. Being Pinterest is a creative collaboration tool - I feel like it's a really good reference point. I know other designers reference sites like dribble.com as well. Hope this helps!
