What are some jobs that consist in traveling or helping others? What majors?
Hi, i am a junior in high school that would love to see more about the world. I am also really passionate about helping others that need it. I have no idea what i want to do after high school so it would be great if i can get suggestions about what jobs or majors i should take. # #psychology #travel #tourism #social #people

Try looking up the Peace Corps. There are many opportunities with them to do international travel. There are a few different directions to take in terms of traveling and helping people. Getting a medical background can lead to helping with medical missions. Social work can be done overseas. A more business-oriented direction is advisory work in a consulting firm like PwC, but that is oriented toward making a profit off of giving business advice. Workers in our advisory department are traveling all of the time and PwC has a wide international reach.

The great news is that you have identified a passion of yours! The next step is identifying where and how you want to apply that passion. There are many options to help others in need, particularly through volunteer programs. You could help teach abroad, help develop communities, build infrastructure, or many other options.
Aside from the Peace Corp, there appear to be many options out there: https://www.gooverseas.com/blog/peace-corps-alternatives-easier-ways-volunteer-abroad
Alternatively, you could try working/living abroad through your own contacts. If you have friends, family, or can make some contacts (say a family friend) that lives abroad, that may be an opportunity to explore living somewhere else. Pick up work however you can, help wherever you can.
Living abroad offers so much positive life experience, I would recommend doing it however you're able to work it out.

If you like business and traveling, consulting could be a great career path for you. Social impact consulting in particular sounds like it could be a good fit for you. I'd recommend taking some business related classes in college to see if you could see yourself majoring in a business related field. Once you get to college, I would also recommend looking into consulting clubs. Many universities have clubs that specifically do social impact consulting, which could be a great opportunity to see if you'd enjoy that kind of work.

Hi Nathaly!
I share your interest in both traveling and helping others! In the past I worked as a Destination Manager for a student travel company, and I think something like that might be right up your alley. In that role, I would assist with students who were going on school fieldtrips to Orlando-- helping organize their hotels, flights etc. The role gave me the chance to travel around the country for our events, but also left me feeling satisfied that I was helping students achieve their dreams through travel, performing arts programs, and educational programs.
I also am the founder of a nonprofit organization, and I find that volunteering helps me feel like I am really helping people. Most large organizations have incredible volunteer and grant giving programs! So, if you go for a career focused in travel, I would recommend looking into the company's community and impact programs as you are applying.
Good luck!

Hey Nathaly,
There are a wide range of majors where you can help people. I would suggest the following:
1) Taking some assessments to get an idea of where your interests are
2) Research each field from each assessment and view some videos on Youtube. For example: "A day in the life of a Tour Guide", etc.
3) Once you have selected what you want to do, check out colleges that have that major. Research each school to find out which one is best that meets your needs.
